How does AirBadge handle my personal information?

Frequently Asked Questions

At AirBadge, we understand the importance of your privacy and security concerns. While submitting personal information for your badge application is a TSA requirement, it is ultimately a voluntary decision.

  • AirBadge uses encryption and secure data handling protocols to ensure the safety of all documents uploaded during the process of your badge application.
  • Most of the personal information you submit is not saved within AirBadge after you receive your badge.
  • The information you provide is used by TSA to conduct a Security Threat Assessment (STA). This step helps maintain a secure airport environment.

The requirement for badge applicants to submit to a background check in order to obtain a credential is outlined in the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), specifically in 49 CFR Part 1542, which governs airport security. These regulations mandate specific security measures, including the vetting of individuals through Security Threat Assessments (STA) to ensure they do not pose a risk to airport security.

If you have questions or would like more information about how your airport handles your personal information, please contact your airport’s credentialing office.
